Is Pregnancy A Disability?

In New Jersey, there is a large debate as to whether or not women who are expecting should be allowed to park in handicap parking spaces. Against allowing women who are pregnant to have special priviledges, there are a few arguements:

1. Most pregnant women choose to get pregnant, whereas people with amputated limbs did not generally have a choice of getting that way.
2. Handicap parking spots are reserved for people with more pressing issues, such as the previously discussed missing appendages.
3. Walking is actually good for you!

And what about the opinions of those who are FOR "stork parking"?

1. Some women have issues beyond simply being pregnant, such as back injuries, that are complicated by pregnancy.
2. Women with other children have a difficult time handling their other children while being pregnant.
3. Stork parking would not only allow for pregnant women, but for women who had young children.

And what is my opinion? Well, to force a company to do anything by LAW should be minimalized. I am all for free enterprise. Why not let it be the choice of the person as to what store they will go to? If Wal-Mart wants special parking priviledges for their mothers, then I say, "Go Wal-Mart!" But if K-Mart feels differently, why should they be forced to allow for special parking priviledges?

But, when it really comes down to it, call me a pushover! I'd love to see more companies providing Pregnant/Parent Parking! If not for anything else but retaining and charming their customers who are child herders.

Be A Desperate Housewife

Just in case you didn't feel scandalous enough WATCHING the show, Walt Disney Co. has announced that it plans to release a computer game in which YOU can be the Desperate Housewife!

Caught this story via Yahoo! News.

What to say about this? I guess a big old sarcastic "Yahoo!" would be sufficient.
